Random Violet thoughts

Mom, How many kids out of 650 kids do you think like deviled eggs? 10% (she's either going to end up on SNL or with a PhD, or both!) Mom, do who is our lawyer? Me: We don't have one. Vi: Don't you think we should have one?

Yesterday in the car listening to NPR re: Obama's request for fewer nuclear weapons..."When the sun blows up and then the Earth blows up, I bet it will be a bigger blast because of all the nuclear weapons...if they aren't gone by then." Tonight- while making her bed. "I just feel weird, like I'm dreaming. Like, why am I me? Why can't I feel what someone else is feeling? It just feels weird."

excitement

Violet to me as she was getting out of the shower, "Mom! Exciting news!!! My arm pits are starting to stink and I have hair on my labia!!!!!" age 7, second grade Awwww....she won't be wanting to crawl up in my lap for too much longer! OfF I go to read Nancy Drew with the awesomest girl kid I know!

Obama vs. Romney

Today Violet said, "Wouldn't it be awesome if Barack Obama and Mitt Romney actually had a fight. And they had to wear their suits. And whoever won got to be the president! Barack would win because he's black and black people are great at wrestling." (Me wondering what direction I should go with this....) then Erickson, "Black people are the best at everything. (This was a Saturday morning riding in the mini-van on the way to Kreyole lessons. I just left it at that!) Vi-age 7 E age 8

Night owl

Since she was a newborn, Violet has wanted to stay up late. She wants to be awake until the last person in the house is asleep. Then, she wants to sleep in in the morning. Definite high likely hood of an adult night owl.

Tonight before going to bed, she said, "I wish I would dream I was having a baby girl. I wish to dream that every night, but I don't dream it. I just want to have a baby soooo bad. A girl. I will be a great mom."

That you will, darling! I hope I get to see it!

Still

Look mom, "I can be so still that I shake." She then held up her arms, stretched out her fingers, bugged out her eyes and tensed every muscle in her body until she achieved a nice fine tremor.
