Since Violet was a baby, she has been special. I think she is very intuitive. Some people think that babies born in water are more like this. It could also be because we left the cord attached for several hours. Or, maybe because she was born outside! Not many babies are born outside...how wonderful! Anyway, I think it is uncanny some of the things she says.
Strange Violet Stories Diary
1. Age 10 mo or so? Before Violet could talk. Violet and I were in bed waking up. I was thinking, “I need to take Violet to Owensboro to see Grandmother and Granddaddy.” Violet then signed “Grandmother” and “Granddaddy.”
2. One day I was driving and thinking, “I need to call Brooke McKinley.” Violet then said, “Brooke, where are you?” This was in early June of 2007.
3. One day, mom had Violet at her house so I could clean my house. I was watching TV and folding clothes. Then a Saturn commercial came on with the Apples in Stereo song in the background. (I knew the Apples got that commercial, but I hadn't seen it yet.) After the commercial was over, Mom and Violet pulled up in the driveway. When Violet walked in, she said, “Robert's song!” (Robert wrote the song.) Violet didn't hear the music or TV at all because she wasn't even in the house. (May? 2007)
4. One time I was driving in the car and thinking about our up coming adoption and the baby. Violet then said, “Baby sit here,” and she pointed to where the baby's car seat was. (This wasn't that shocking as I talked to her frequently about the fact that a baby was coming to live with us and she'd be the big sister. However, we were not talking about it at that time.)
5. One day I was playing with Violet on the swing set at mom's house. I was thinking, “I need to get up to Blanchester and see Grandmommie and Ed.” We walked into the house and Violet said, “Ed loves me,” and signed “Ed.” (August? 2007)
6. In August, Violet was swinging in her porch swing and I was tearing out old boards on the deck. John was mowing the yard. I thought, “I could use these boards to build Violet a playhouse.” I leaned over the deck to shout to John my idea when Violet said, “ Make my playhouse!” (John explains this by saying that Violet deduced that building a playhouse is something you could do with those boards.)
7.
8/31/07 Violet was at mom's and I came to pick her up. She was sound asleep and I woke her up. She was not happy about this and having a major fit. Everything I said to her made her more mad, so I just decided not to talk to her. I stuck her in the car so we could get home. She was a basket case in the back crying. I just stayed silent. I thought, “Maybe if I stick her in the baby pool at home, that will distract her.” Violet then shouted, “NO GO SWIMMING!” Of all the incidences like this in the past, this one shocked me the most! Well, the play house one was pretty shocking, too.
8. 9/6/07 I was on the phone with Heidi Schweder. Violet was playing in the yard. Heidi's daughter, Piper, was apparently running away from her. Heidi was saying, “come back, Piper.” Violet then came up to my leg and said, “Run Away! Run Away!” There was no way she could have heard what Heidi was saying to me. (However, Violet could have been referring to how she was running around in the yard or maybe she was talking about mom's dogs that were also in the back yard at that time....???)
9. 2007 mom was on the floor with Sandy thinking she needed a bath. Violet said, “Sandy needs a bath!”
10. 2007 Bhante's birthday. One day, I was checking my email and said that I was emailing Bhante. Violet asked, “When is his birthday?” I said, I don’t know. Let’s ask him. Bhante wrote back, and his birthday was that week.
11. 1/9/07 Birdie's Death: One day, I was driving home from moogie’s and I passed a sign that said, “Job openings for CNA’s” I was thinking about when John’s mom was at our house dying and how I could have done such a better job taking care of her now that I’ve started nursing school. I was off in dream world, thinking about this and feeling pretty guilty. I was thinking about how I should have bathed her more and washed her hair, etc. Then, when we were on N. Limestone, Violet said, “Where’s Birdie.” I said, “She died.” And Violet said, “But where is she.” I said, “She doesn’t exist anymore.”
12. 1/30/07 John was brushing his teeth while Violet was in the tub. John was thinking about his trip to Taiwan. Violet said, “Daddy, I go to Taiwan.”
13. 3/5/08 Today I was in the kitchen cleaning it. It was nasty! I said with a sigh, “Oh, Violet....” (and I thought, “I have to clean up this kitchen now.”) But, I didn't want to be negative or complaining, so I didn't say it out loud. Then Violet said, “ Oh, Mommie, I have to clean the kitchen now.”
14. Tornado ?? I was swinging Violet at Moogie and Doogie’s house and thinking about how sad my Grandmother must be about their church in Owensboro being hit by a tornado. Violet then said, “Why is Grandmother crying about her church?”
15. June 2008?: Violet woke up and said, “Dave has a baby!” And I said, “Not yet. They are waiting to adopt a baby.” She said, “I had a dream they had a baby. It was a girl.” The next day, Violet told Chandra her dream. A couple of weeks later, Dave and Chandra found out they had been chosen by a birthmom…and it was a girl…baby Maya.
16. Oct. 1, 2008: Sept 29th, I had Violet draw a picture for Donna’s going away party. Violet drew her first person with a body. Then, she drew a baby in the belly. She also drew milks (breasts), and hair and a penis on the baby and a vagina on Donna. It was the most anatomically detailed drawing she has ever done. We went to Donna’s going away party and announced that she was pregnant!!!
