Instant classics: age 4.5

1) A few weeks ago, Violet had a stomach bug. After throwing up, she said, "I got rid of my bug....but I think his brother is still in there."

2) A few days ago, we were all driving in the car. Violet asked, "How do you make water?" I said, "Well, you take 2 Hydrogens and an Oxygen." She said, "That's what Daddy said."

3) Today, while lying in bed, Violet said, "I want to get a pair of boots and a hundred packs of gum and put the gum on the bottom of the shoes and then walk on the ceiling."

4) Lately Violet has been inquiring about sex. (And of course, we have told her what it is.) But recently she asked, "Does it feel good for girls?" Oh Lord, ya'll pray for me for the teenage years. One caveat, this question followed an NPR story we were listening to about fake hymens that non-virgins can purchase in Arab countries. Violet must have REALLY been listening. She said, "What is sex?" and I told her (again) that it is when a man puts his penis in a vagina. She said, "I knew that."

5) Tonight, I brought several dishes down to the basement for family Movie night. As I was walking down the stairs, Violet said, "Dang....waitress!!!" She said it just how I imagine Chris Rock might say it.
